The District of Chetwynd is the Western entrance to the British Columbia Peace River Region. It comprises the towns of Tumbler Ridge, Chetwynd, Hudson Hope, Dawson Creek, FL St. John, and Nelson. It’s western border is the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the eastern border the rolling hills of the prairies and the province of Alberta, and to the north the scenic Alaska highway.

The area is full of natural beauty, wildlife, lakes, waterfalls, ski resort, hot springs, dinosaur tracks, museums and hydro dams. It is replete with hunting and fishing opportunities, hiking, snowboarding and all-terrain recreations and an array of career opportunities. Chetwynd – is a beautiful small town of about 3,000 people with a wonderful community spirit, and a world-renown Chainsaw Carving competition, with 150 larger than file size carvings located throughout the community public spaces. With banks, shopping, movie theatre, restaurants, pubs, college, amenities, beautiful parks and trails, it is a perfect small town that is all within walking from any area of town.

It has a beautiful and modern recreation complex with curling rink, ice arena, wave pool, large gym, racketball, climbing wall, indoor running track and a beautiful skateboard park. Windrem Creek winds its way through the town and is overlooked on all sides by mountains and hiking trails.
